dIVIDE

A MIXED-REALITY PERCEPTION-BENDING PUZZLE GAME FOR HOLOLENS 2

Divide is an Idea I had a few months ago. A few weeks following that the idea had turned into a full blown world with a lot of of mystery, cool abilities and ways to look at things.

Please join me on my Journey here as I document the development of Divide and if you're interested keep up to date on how close its getting to Release.

Update: The Demo Prototype has been fully finished and completed. Please enjoy an early glimpse of the vision for Divide:

Divide

A game where Perspective is everything.

Delve into an intricate world in the future where Humanity has split in two.

Some have aligned with Nature and Magic while others with Technology and Modifications.

After centuries of Divide humanity has split into 2 new Species which have vastly different Perspectives on the world.

In Part I, the Player must help the two characters escape a Prison and get to safety away from their captors.

By using the Divide button on top to split the world in two parts offering a view of the different Characters perspectives.

As the Player you can control both the characters with an Xbox One Wireless Controller connected via Bluetooth to the HoloLens 2.

The only way to solve the puzzles is to think out of the box by using both the characters 2 different perspectives but also the third Mixed Reality one. The only way to view the entire play space is to get up close and personal and walk around freely around the Game Stage as you play.

Key Features:

Only Possible in Mixed Reality - The core idea of the game has been built with Mixed Reality in mind from the very beginning and allows gameplay which is only available with VR/MR head camera tracking. It's all about getting up close and personal and looking at the world from different viewpoints.

Innovative Asymmetric Gameplay Control - Taking the idea of Dual Hand control for separate characters to a new level. The Asymmetric abilities combined with the well crafted puzzles bring a new unique experience to Third-Person Top-Down games.

Perspective Bending Puzzles - The Divide/World-Split mechanic brings a fresh new mechanic never seen in games before. It offers a four-dimensional look into the world of the characters and makes possible puzzle game mechanics which have never been explored before.

Narrative:

The year is 2066. The Divide between the species is a fact. There are those who choose full integration with technology and those tho choose to trust Nature and tap into it's magical potential. The air smells of battling opinions and questioning belonging.

In this hopeless mix of insanity, intense survival and radical change it feels like the whole World is stuck in a perpetual teenager angst stage.

Out two characters are imprisoned because they believe there's a third option integrating both, something which is vastly frowned upon by each of their respective species of Human 2.0.

After a failed attempt at peaceful protest for the rights of Choice in the world and being thrown in prison, our two characters choose to set off on a journey to freedom and fighting for integration of the Human Species again.

Divide Prototype focuses on "Part I : An Escape?" where the characters have to learn to use their individual abilities to break out of an otherwise unbreakable fortress.

Retrospective:

After month of Development on Divide I feel like it has enough potential for me to keep working on it.

I am extremely excited and glad that this prototype got to the stage which it did as it functions of as a full Vertical/Horizontal Slice of what the finished game would be like.

There is a lot more work to be done but I'm sure that like with all of my XR adventures I will have a lot of fun making it.

Release:

With the current stage and speed of development I hope to release the Full Version of Divide by the end of 2022/early 2023.

I will keep all development on the game up to date on my blog as well as on this page.

Thank you very much for the support and I hope you enjoy my content.
